Attracting Jazz Lovers and Creating New Ones
With the assistance of Michigan State University, the SSJF strengthened its commitment
to music education with the addition of the MSU Outreach and Engagement Education
Stage. The new stage gave local high school and young up-and-coming jazz musicians an
opportunity to perform on stage at a major jazz festival. The 2013 performers were
JAMM Sandy Izenson Scholarship 2012 Recipient Noah Frankforter, Saginaw Area Youth
Jazz Ensemble, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School Jazz Combo and East Lansing High School
